Our goal is to find you your best ever ride.
The wind changed how I ride
One week I had a fantastic ride. My average speed was up, effort was down, and I felt fantastic. It was such a stark contrast to the week before. Then it hit me: it was tailwind. If only I'd been able to see a forecast.
The week before I had done the same route entirely in headwind. It was awful. Slow, draining, and honestly it made me not want to get on the bike at all.
I live in the Netherlands. It is windy here, and on the bike that matters more than almost anything else. A good week and a bad week can feel like two completely different sports.
Nothing out there felt right
I looked online for something that could track routes with wind in a way that made sense. Something with a modern UI, easy to use, accessible, and understandable. I could not find it.
So I built Tailwind GPS.
How we do it
We score every route hour by hour using wind, weather, and how you actually ride. When you hit a corner or a long straight, the wind changes with you. We recalibrate along the way so the score matches the ride you will feel in your legs.
Your pace matters
We use your average speed to understand a) how the ride will feel and b) where you will be at every moment during scoring.
Every turn counted
We retrace wind along your route segment by segment, every couple of hundred metres, so scores reflect what you actually ride.
Seven datasets
We cross reference seven weather and wind datasets to build the most reliable picture we can.
Fourteen day forecast
Plan solo spins or your whole club outing up to two weeks ahead, hour by hour.
Draw, share, export
Draw routes on the map, copy a share link for a friend, or download GPX for your head unit.
For every kind of rider
Whether you ride solo, with your squad, or with the whole club, casual or serious, Tailwind is built to help you find the ride that feels best.
